Careers at Rocket

• Drivers must have a willingness to run at any time and travel anywhere in the continental United States and Canada
• Drivers must present a clean, well-groomed, professional appearance at all times
• Drivers must conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times
• Tractor and straight truck applicants must have 1 year of verifiable OTR driving experience in a commercial motor vehicle
• Minimum age requirement in 21
• Applicants must carry and maintain an active cell phone with nationwide coverage at all times
• Applicants must attend, complete, and pass a 2-day training class and road test in the vehicle to be leased.
• Applicants must be able to read, comprehend, and write English
• Applicants must have a valid driver's license or proper CDL as per USDOT requirements
• Hazardous Material endorsement required for CDL-A tractor owner-operators and recommended for CDL-B owner-operators
• Must be a United States citizen or have valid employment authorization from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service
• Applicant must pass drug screen test and USDOT physical
• When applicable, drivers must maintain logs in accordance with the USDOT guidelines
• Logs must be turned in to Rocket Expedited Services every 7 days

• Correct and on-time weekly pay settlements. All runs delivered through Saturday and all delivery documents turned in by noon on Monday are paid that Friday.
• Comdata card will be issued to owner-operators. The card may be used for fuel purchases on a pre-set fuel limit. Any fuel purchased using the Comdata card will be deducted from weekly settlements.
• Direct deposit is also available through Comdata. A computerized settlement statement will be mailed each week.
• All dispatches include one pick-up and one delivery. Additional stops will be paid at $25.00 per stop.
• Drivers will be paid delay time at $25.00 per hour, with the delay clock beginning 60 minutes after the driver reaches the customer's door. Delay time will be paid in quarter-hour increments. All delay time must be approved prior to completion of pickup and/or delivery.
• Miles paid are determined by PC miler matrix, NOT odometer readings.

• No forced dispatch. You call the shots. You decide which loads are right for you.
• 85% of dispatches occur during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
• Rocket will NOT ask you to break the law, such as DOT Hours of Service regulations
• Rocket dispatch and driver assistance operates 24/7/365

Cargo Vans & Straight Trucks

• Cargo vans are paid $0.82 per loaded mile. Straight trucks are paid $1.24 per loaded mile.
• All loaded miles in core market are paid at head haul rates. Core market includes Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Chicagoland area.
• Backhauls are paid at 65% of billable revenue
• 100% of billable fuel surcharge paid to driver. Fuel surcharge is based on the national average and is adjusted every 30 days.

Tractors

• Solos are paid $0.98 per mile (loaded or empty) and teams are paid $1.10 per mile (loaded or empty)
• $35.00 per hour for local pick-up and delivery where applicable
• Reimbursement for 100% of East Coast tolls and some other tolls where authorized.
• Paid detention or layover time when approved
• Fuel surcharge based on the national average price per gallon for diesel fuel. The fuel surcharge percentage will be determined by Rocket Expedited and adjusted every 30 days.
• Owner-operator can expect 3,000 mile per week for a single driver and 4,500 miles per week for a team. Drivers must have a willingness to travel anywhere in the 48 states to achieve expected miles.

• Owner-operator is responsible for vehicle plates and registration
• When applicable as per USDOT guidelines, owner-operator is responsible for IFTA, including quarterly filing and payment
• Owner-operator is responsible for obtaining any additional state permits that are not already provided by Rocket Expedited Services, including, but not limited to, Michigan MPSC and New York HUT

• Tractors and straight trucks must be no more than 7 years old. Vans must be no more than 5 years old.
• All vehicles, including cargo vans, must have current certified USDOT inspection
• Owner-operator is responsible for maintaining annual USDOT inspections
• Qualcomm communication device will be installed in cargo vans and straight trucks. A weekly usage fee of $20.00 will be deducted from weekly settlements.

• NTU (Non-Trucking Use or Bobtail) insurance can be purchased through Rocket or can be provided by the Owner-Operator. If not purchased through Rocket, NTU must have $1,000,000 limit of liability and must show Rocket Expedited Services as certificate holder.
• Occupational Accident (similar to Worker's Comp) insurance can be purchased through Rocket or provided by owner-operator
• Physical Damage (Collision) insurance is automatically provided to cargo van and straight truck owner-operators upon receipt of signed contract. The premium for this coverage is paid by Rocket. Owner-operator is responsible for $1,000 deductible if policy purchased through Rocket.
• Cargo & Trailer Liability insurance for tractor owner-operators is automatically provided upon receipt of a signed contract. The owner-operator is responsible for a monthly premium. Cargo and trailer loss or damage eash carries a $1,000 deductible for which owner-operator is responsible.

• One speeding violation of 15+ miles over posted limit or any other major moving violation in past 36 months
• More than 2 speeding violations of 0-14 miles over posted limit in past 36 months
• DUI and/or reckless driving conviction in past 3 years
• Driving and/or criminal felony conviction in past 10 years
• Failure to operate and/or maintain a safe vehicle

• An escrow account will be established for every owner-operator vehicle and will be funded at $35.00 per week for cargo vans and straight trucks and $50.00 per week for tractors up to a maximum balance of $1,000 per vehicle. The escrow account will be interest bearing with interest paid equal to the average yield of 91-days, 13-week Treasury Bills. The amount of interest shall be established on the date the interest period begins.
• Upon termination of lease agreement, escrow funds will be refunded 45 days from the date of termination. Any expenses the owner-operator is responsible for that are still owed to the carrier will be deducted from escrow prior to reimbursement.

Cargo Vans & Straight Trucks Only

• Pay the full balance of $550.00 up front
• Pay half up front ($275.00) and have the balance deducted equally over the first 2 settlements
• Deduct the full amount equally over the first 5 settlements ($110 per week)
